Share your standards
We all have standards that we live by or at least want to live by. Your standards are made up of beliefs and values. These are mostly internal, and they rule your behaviour. You exercise because you believe that people should take care of their body. You hate negative gossip, because you believe in looking for the good in people. Think about it. What are your standards?
When you know your standards, it’s a good idea to share them with others. Letting people know what’s important to you, will help your relationship with them. They will know you better and they can take your standards into account in their behaviour.
The flipside, which is also positive, is that others can hold you accountable to your standards. If your behaviour clashes with your standards, your friends can call you on it. “I thought you hated gossip, so why are you doing it yourself now?”
You will start living to your own standards even more. So make them public.
