Change Your Past For A Better Future

A lot of our actions and attitude towards situations are determined by our experiences in the past. You had a fight with your spouse yesterday, so today you still come home in a bad mood. Or your last five prospects said no to your proposal, so you hesitate to reach out to new prospects. When you look forward, you tend to look back first. Which is good of it helps you learn.

When the past is limiting you, however, it is good to know you have a choice. You can choose to start from a clean slate. Ask yourself: What if I had no recollection before this moment? Or even better: What if my past experiences were positive and empowering? What would I do?

Strong imagination and visualisation creates feelings as if it was reality. So if you strongly imagine positive, empowering experiences, you will feel free to act as if those experiences were real. You will feel empowered and ready to take on the task.

I’m not telling you to ignore or forget the past. If anything, the past is a great source for learning important lessons. Just remember that your past does not determine your future. At every moment you have a choice to start fresh or even rewrite your past. Next time you feel weighed down by past experiences ask yourself the “what  if” questions and choose a better future.
